Churches are increasingly working together in various areas of need in the wider community.

The following are some examples of how Pilgrim is involved:

  • Together with churches in this area we
provide funds to help employ Christian
    Pastoral Support Workers at Norwood/
Morialta High and Magill Primary Schools.

  • We join other Christians in the annual World Day of Prayer worlddayofprayer.net
  • We support the needy locally, across
Australia, and the world through aid
    and welfare alws.org.au
  • We support Lutheran Community Care
which has an office on our church property.
  • We support Lutheran Media Ministry of
Australia which provides radio, TV and
internet Christian programs for the wider community lutheranmedia.org.au

  • Other projects pilgrim has supported include:

    • Alice Springs Town Camp Ministry
    • Community Food SA – Kilburn
    • Gippsland Lutheran Parish – Sudanese Ministry
    • Fink River Mission
    • Queensland Flood Appeal
    • SA Drought Relief
    • Shepparton Lutheran Church – new church building

Our current projects are Lutheran World Mission and Trans World Radio in Cambodia.

The Lutheran Church of Australia (LCA) has had a long standing partnership with the Lutheran Church in Singapore (LCS).

The Lutheran Church in Singapore has oversight of the ministry which is being developed through Lutheran World Mission (LWM) in Cambodia. This mission & ministry of LWM Cambodia is supported especially through the Lutheran Church in Singapore and other members churches of the Mekong Mission Forum of which the LCA is a member.

LWM is currently active in two areas in Cambodia – Good Shepherd Lutheran Church in Kampong Chhnang Province, and the LWM Hostel in Phnom Penh. The ministry is described as a ‘holistic’ ministry in that, besides spreading the gospel by teaching and preaching, they are also involved in health education, assisting villagers to become better farmers and fishermen etc, providing meals for children, and in education and leadership development.

Pilgrim congregation is providing $48,000 over three years in support of this project in Cambodia.

Trans World Radio ministry can be described as a ‘broadacre’ ministry in that they are spreading the gospel over radio to most Provinces in Cambodia and through using special ‘speaker boxes’ for Listening Groups, their visits to schools and villages wherever possible. They are planning to distribute initially 20,000 Good News Readers to children in Cambodia.

Because their broadcasts and the Good News Readers follow Lutheran doctrine, we are spreading the gospel throughout Cambodia based on Lutheran doctrine.

Trans World Radio receives over 1,500 letters each month from children who listen to the Happy Children’s Garden messages on their listening boxes. Each letter is replied to individually.

Pilgrim congregation is supporting TWR by providing $42,000 over three years.
